Since no one is riding at Penang, so I decided to go to Sg Lembu again this morning. I thought it will be like last week, short and easy ride. But they took another route which is more tougher than last week. Lot of uphills and technical downhill. i do enjoyed it.

This is my 1st outing with the KOTRT crew. I didn’t expect the trip to be so enjoyable, and kinda cool in a way…and hot! The KOTRT crew also live up to their slogan too; "Ride to Eat, Eat to Ride." Lot’s of foods was waiting us...as we discovered later.
It was a sunny Saturday morning, I wished that I could separate into 2 bodies as it was my brother’s Graduation Ceremony . I had to give that a miss as I arranged to follow Pang’s car to Kuala Kangsar. Sorry bro, I hope I could be there too. Congratulations and all the best in your Advance Diploma study.
At 11.30am, Cauly and I met up with Pang, ST and Adrian. We reached Kuala Kangsar town around 1.00pm. We drove around a bit before locating the resort. We were told that we could only check in after 2.00pm. So, we went for lunch. Didn’t know Adrian has his roots here, so he knows where to find delicious food. We went to a shop named Chun Kee for our lunch served with a big fish; Dai How Wat Yu (the fish name in Cantonese), vegetables, egg and others. I just love this fish dish. I was informed by ST that it is an air tawar fish. Delicious! I give it 5 stars. Cauly took some photos of the fish too.
After lunch, we went to collect our goodie bags. There were some counters selling jerseys shorts and bags too. Next we headed for town to collect the famous PAU . Adrian ordered a lot for our crew. There are 2 types of PAU; beef and chicken. I tried both and I only have one word for it...Ho Chiak!
We went back to the resort, checked into the dorm and unloaded our bikes. We took a fresh shower and nap. A while later, we were joined by Jascha and Sue. It was a hot day and there was no air-cond in our dorm, only fans. Jascha and Sue offered some Tiger beer but we politely gave it a pass. After our nap, Cauly and I decided to go shopping in Ipoh. It took us 30 mins to get there. I bought some shirts and we rushed back to Kuala Kangsar to join the rest for dinner.
We returned to the same shop we had our lunch earlier. We ordered different fish dish this time. Fish was nice but we were surprised to see our local politician, Lim Kit Siang having his dinner at the same shop. You can imagine how popular this restaurant is. Even Mr DAP comes here to eat! He came over and greeted everyone. Cauly wanted to take a picture with him but changed her mind, shy?
After dinner, we swung by a mini market to get some snacks for breakfast and then back to our dorm for much needed rest before the rest of the crew came in.
None of us could sleep well as it was very humid in our dorm. It was almost 12.00am when the rest of the crew arrived. By then the dorm got hotter and more humid with 17 people sharing our unit! I really sweated it out! All the humidity was forgotten as the guys dug into the PAU Adrian bought earlier. We had a mini PAU party! Everyone helped themselves to the chicken and beef PAU although it was so late already!
The next morning, I woke up early hoping to beat everyone to the toilet. We had to leave early as the event would flag off at 7.00am. We gathered outside after gearing up. Cauly asked me for the KOTRT jersey as she likes the design very much. Sadly, I told her that we can’t get it as it is not for sale. I wished I had one too my dear. We went for a quick drink near Laman Budaya before gathering at the starting point.
We were flagged off after the briefing. Everyone paddled very fast towards the trail head. Cauly and I were separated form the rest of the crew. Eventually, we caught up with some of the crew who waited for Azmi who was fixing a flat. What an unlucky day for him? The trail was nice to ride. Not very steep but with fast and furious downhill. This time, I promised my dear Cauly to accompany her to complete the ride, so no speeding for me. Along the way, we passed through some big boulders, dragon fruit farm and rubber estate. We took some photos for collection.
Somewhere in the middle of the trail, we had a mini incident; Cauly got separated from me and lost her way! Oh no! She got lost again? Last year Jamboree, she wandered off on her own and I couldn’t find her. This time, I was worried sick as she must have taken a wrong turn earlier. I keep calling out for her many times. Thank God, we found each other at check point 3. Apparently she back tracked and found her way out. After that I cycled with her all the way to the finish line.
We finished our ride at 11.15am. It took us 4 hours to complete the ride. I checked my heart rate meter, my average heart rate was just 155. Ha-ha-ha… leisured ride for me. Without wasting any more time, we cycled back to our dorm. TalkKOTRT session had already started but the crew cheered and congratulated us the minute we entered the dorm. After a quick shower it was time to eat.
We went to an ikan bakar restaurant at Lenggong along the way to Grik. Can't imagine a restaurant along this road. What surprised me more was the ikan bakar there. Wow! Nice leh! After makan, we headed back to Kuala Kangsar to collect some more PAU that Adrian ordered. Cauly was disappointed as the shop ran out of PAU for her to buy. NO reserve, No PAU! Don't worry my dear; we can always have it next time. We balik kampong masing-masing after we hit the hi way.
Overall, we enjoyed the trip although the only complain was our hot and humid dorm! We look forward to our next outing with KOTRT but please can we stay in a dorm with air-con next time? See you guys at SP Jamboree on 10 August then.

Paint ball game.

Actually this was my second time went to play the paint ball game d. Better than the 1st time. At least not that nervous, know wat to do when the game started. Haha....shoot 3 ppls today, but get shoot twist back. Especialy being shoot on the thumb, my thumb feel numb for almost 15 mins. Got a blue black on my leg too.

The Kuala Kangsar Jamboree 2008 is just around the corner and i havnt start my training yet. Guess it will be another tought ride for me again. Another yearly event was annouced by someone at BBS, SP Jamboree. I miss that Jamboree as i din finish the ride last year. Look like i have to cleane the dust on my bike and start my training now.

Wat the hell....increased again? Don't he said will not increase untill August? (u know who i mean "he") It was traffic jamed all the way where ever near the petrol station. Everyone was queing up for the last minute cheaper price petrol. Look like i need to change my transpot to bicycle d. More save, some more can train everyday. Wat do u say?

I only got to know of this ride towards the end of the week. Guess the guys couldn’t decide where to ride? I was looking forward to the ride as I was off a bike since my mtb got stolen on my last ride with the crew two weekends ago. Sniff-sniff. I checked with Azmi and he confirmed where we would be riding…K6! We would ride up Penang Hill via the K6 trail from Thai Siang Loh Koon then descend to Air Itam Dam via Woodcutter Trail. Sounds exciting!

I woke up early in the morning even before the alarm rang. Hmm…looked like my body alarm worked better then the alarm clock! I spent some time in the toilet unloading everything. I went for a simple breakfast and then I cycled to TSLK arch from my girl friend’s house.

By the time I reached the junction to Air Itam, I saw Shamoon cycling alone towards Penang Hill train station. I quickly chased after him and asked why he went that way? Shouldn’t we meet Azmi at the TSLK arch? Shamoon replied that is the way to the trail head. We regrouped with four more cyclists who came all the way from Kulim. We introduced ourselves. The four friendly Kulim riders were Dave, Loo, Chong and Tan if I’m not mistaken. Shamoon received a call from Azmi. He asked the rest of us to wait at the trail head while he rode to the arch to meet Azmi.

After nearly 15 minutes, Shamoon rode up to where we were waiting and told us to regroup with the others. There were a total of 12 riders who showed up for the ride. I still don’t have any idea where was this trail head but I found out it was the very same trail I have already hiked a few times. ST mentioned it may not be too good timing for our Kulim friends to join as K6 is one of toughest climb up to Penang Hill. ST reminded everyone changed to the granny gear before we started our climb! Alamak…really so tough meh? I still remembered the Blue Mountain ride where ST hung his helmet in front of his bike. Today was no different! Never mind I would find the answer soon…

A short distance to the climb Pang experienced shifting(not shittng ah!) problem. Azmi was quick to assist him solve the problem. We continued riding. Then…“Chain break! Chain break!” someone shouted from behind. I thought it was Pang(again?) but I kept going up. It was my first ride on my new Scottie. Time to see how good and far my Scottie could go? While on my way up, I faced some difficulty with my SPD paddles. It was hard to disengage and caused me to fall whenever I couldn’t release my shoes in time!

Soon, I reached the first rest stop at a small hut. Those who were already there were catching their breaths! We waited for the rest. After the arrival of Pang and ST, we found out it was Wei Liang’s chain that broke. ST asked him to push his bike to the small hut to fix his problem. Wah, a lot of people helped to fix Wei Liang’s chain. It was like in an operating theatre! Some were holding, cursing even but eventually they managed to connect the chain. Jascha texted a message to Pang that he had turned back. We were down to 11 cyclists to continue the challenging climb!

Pushing…pushing…pushing! Most of us were pushing our bikes up the very steep climb! Even Pang, ST and Shamoon pushed! Heh-heh-heh…I took some picture as evidence of our KOM King pushing his bike! K6 may be the toughest hill I have climbed but I was also rewarded by a grand view of Georgetown. Don’t forget to look around when u are riding this trail. So many interesting things to see you may just miss something. Shamoon suggested that we should ride the same trail next week, but everyone just kept quiet!

When we took another break at the temple, I realized that I dropped my Oakley Racing Jacket! It must have happened when I fell down earlier. I quickly turned back to the place where I fell down and thank God I found it! Luckily I realized my loss early. What if I only realized my loss when I reached Penang Hill? Alamak! Sniff-sniff…my RM600 fei leh!

We continued riding and some were pushing up to Penang Hill. Finally we reached the lower half of the Canopy Walk. ST took us on another scenic route. He said it’s easier to reach the food court. It took me forever to reach the exit of this trail and...…we still had another steep climb(towards 168!) before I could enjoy my delicious Nasi Goreng and Ais Kacang! Azmi had a flat when we arrived at the food court. While we ate and drank, he fixed his flat. After changing his tube and we were all freshened up…it was pay back time to downhill!

A short ride and soon we reached the trail head to Woodcutter. Pang put on his guts er guard. Kia su or Kia si? Never mind…he knew better! We started the downhill lead by Malik. Half way down, I noticed Pang started to cramp on both legs. I followed him not more then 100 meters and it was my turn cramping as well! I just laid on the ground for more then 5 minutes, doing nothing and I prayed to God to help me finish the ride today. God answered my prayer! He sent me his “angel” Pang who gave me a few shots of Cramp Stop and it helped! Along the trail we met Wei Liang who told us he fell down from the bike four times! This guy more “die hard” than me…every time we ride, he would fall down but he kept on riding. I respect you.

It was 1.30pm when we reached Air Itam Dam. We saw an uncle who rode through the road fronting the dam. We asked him and he told us it’s ok to ride through. When we reached the other end of the dam we were blocked by the security guard who accused us of cycling through a restricted area. I felt he was just making a mountain out of a mole hill. He refused to let us through and an argument broke out. He even threatened to call the Police! It was getting out of hand, I decided to call his supervisor whom I know. Only after he spoke to his supervisor did he relent and allowed us to go through. We had majority in numbers. We could’ve just ignored him and rode through if we wanted but we are not the type to do that. Anyway, problem settled and we continued our ride downhill. Most of the guys were hungry when we regrouped at the foot hill. They decided to head for the famous roundabout Mee Goreng but not me. It was getting late…I just wanted a nice bath and good rest.

Seemed like many things happened today but it was a nice ride for me. As for my bike, over all I would rate it good. As it’s a new bike, I need to get used to it and I better change my paddle before my next ride. Until then, see you guys on our next outing!

Over this few days, i was so worry that it will rain. History always cant change, look like this year same too. Last few years before the jamboree start, as usual, raining. Well, for those who had participated last few years should know tat the trail was being destroy by the heavy rain before n made our ride became more challanging. Hope tat this year won't rain again cus tonight look like is going to rain already.

OMG, i just ran away from a terrible incident. last sunday i went to cycle with my gf at air itam dam . it was raining tat morning and the road was a bit wet..... On the way we went down the dam, i tried 2 over take my gf, suddenly there was a car heading up 2 the dam, n i was totally shock with the coming car and i bang with the car..... i was so lucky tat i m not injure but just some minor scratches on my leg.... but my gf, she was so nervous ( until now she still don admit tat she was nervous at tat time) n she fall down from her bike ( thanks got she is ok, hope she will recover soon) Hope tat everyone who cycle must be careful to avoid the inccident tat happend just like me......
